does the Church say about Marriage, Love, Sex and Family?

20-21, 2008.
The CLARE Institute of the Franciscan Life Center
is offering a two-day seminar on marriage, love, sexuality
and family based
on the Teachings of the Catholic Church. Individuals, groups,
engaged and married couples are invited to attend this seminar
Saturday, September 20th, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday,
September 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chiara
Center, 275 Finch Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut.
Presenters include, Sister Suzanne Gross, FSE, Program Coordinator,
ProLife Ministry, Archdiocese of Hartford; Sister Barbara
Johnson, FSE, Executive Director, Franciscan Life Center; Sister
John
Mary Sullivan, FSE, Pastoral Coordinator, Shrine of St. Anne,
Waterbury; and several married couples. Lunch is included
in the $65.00 per person charge. For more information contact

Summer
Enrichment Program for Children
The land-based summer experiences for
children ages 6 to 12 was offered for three weeks
this summer.
Activities included: art, music, animal care, gardening, storytelling, baking,
drama, and other educational activities.
Summer
Youth Leadership Training Program
The summer youth leadership training
program for young people ages 13 and 14 was offered
again this year during the week of June 23 through
June 27. This exciting week-long program involves experiential
and interactive learning. The participants experience
low and high outdoor challenge course activities, as
well as participate in group discussions and role playing
exercises. Areas of focus include communication skills,
teamwork, problem-solving and building self-esteem.

FRANCISCAN
SPORTS BANQUET
The 23rd Annual Franciscan Sports Banquet dedicated
to our dear friend, Coach Rob Szymaszek, was a joy-filled,
successful evening. The tone of the evening was set by
Rob’s dear friend, Steve Filippone, and closed with
the blessing of Saint Francis sung by the Franciscan Sisters
of the Eucharist.

Kevin Gilbride, the NY Giants' Offensive Coordinator,
spoke about the Giants' season and Super Bowl Championship.
Paul Pendergast, President, Saint Francis Hospital Foundation,
and recipient of the Jim Calhoun Community Service Award,
affirmed the works of the Franciscan Life Center and
encouraged people to continue supporting our mission.
