Parenting Workshop, March 30 & April 6
"Raising Responsible and Cooperative Children"

The parenting workshop is designed for parents, with children, ages 13 and under, to sharpen their abilities to communicate with their children and to develop effective discipline. Discussions will target specific parenting strategies to improve a child’s ability to cooperate and act responsibly while enhancing family relationships.

The facilitator is Dr. Thomas Finn, a licensed clinical psychologist, who has been on staff at the Franciscan Life Center for over 30 years.  Dr. Finn also has a private practice in Southington.

The two session workshop will be held on:

Dates:  Wednesdays - March 30 and April 6, 2011
Time:    7:00 pm to 8:30 pm   
Place:  Chiara Center - on the campus of the Franciscan Life Center, 275 Finch Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451
Fee:  $40.00 per person or $60.00 per couple         

Workshop topics include, but are not limited to, using effective communication styles, setting effective limits on behavior, balancing warmth and firmness, blending positive/negative consequences, controlling anger, responding to whining, avoiding power struggles and having “buttons” pushed.
